who is the 2014 Senior
Northern East Ohio Amateur Invitational
Contested on June, 16th, 18th, & 23rd
Notes from NOGA.org about the event:
DAY 1: "In the Senior Flight Jim Durr who is a member at Silver Lake shot the low score of 2-under 70. Durr was able to use his course knowledge to his advantage by making five birdies on the round and playing consistent throughout the round. Two players are tied for second - past champion Jim Harless from Barrington and Signature of Solon's Marc Fried who shot even-par 72.
Silver Lake Country Club was a wonderful host for our first round. The course was in great condition and the hospitality was second to none. The second round will be held on June 18 at Madison Golf and Country Club."
DAY 2: "The Senior Division had another strong showing from Jim Durr of Silver Lake Country Club after posting an even-par 71. Durr has a six shot lead over Mike Cassell from the Country Club of Hudson who is currently at 4-over for the tournament. The seniors will play 18 holes monday morning at The Country Club to determine the champion."
DAY 3: "Jim Durr of Silver Lake Country Club had to hold on over the final nine holes to win his first NEOA Senior title. Durr built a six-shot lead over the first two rounds of the championship and needed all of that lead after a final-round 79 to finish at 5-over 220. He shot 1-over on his last 11 holes and held on for a one-stroke victory over C.C. of Hudson’s Mike Cassell and Signature of Solon’s Marc Fried, who finished runner-up for the third straight year. Cassell, last year's NOGA Senior Player of the Year, posted a final-round 74 and Fried shot 1-over 73.
Special thanks to Silver Lake Country Club, Madison Golf & Country Club and The Country Club for hosting this year’s championship. All three courses were outstanding hosts, especially The Country Club which hosted the 36-hole finals and was in near-perfect condition."
