Net Championship

June 14th & 15th

The Men's Net Championship was contested this Father's Day weekend along with another biggish tournament…the US OPEN.  At Pinehurst, Martin Kaymer played brilliantly and was in control the entire tournament.  A similar performance was being put on at our Net Championship where Leo Bailey opened with an amazing round of 63 giving him a 5 shot lead.  

On day two it looked like Rick Archer was going to make a run at Leo turning with a net 25 on the front 9!  Unfortunately he ran into some trouble in the "Swan's Nest" (Holes 13, 14, and 15), but still finished with a great round of net 64.  Mr. Bailey was able to follow up his great first round score with a solid 66 in round two.   He credits an adjustment in his takeaway which dramatically improved his ball striking, as well as a putting tip from his nephew which helped him only have one 3-putt over the course of 36 holes.  A mighty fine accomplishment on greens that were rolling very nice and hole locations that were of a championship caliber.  Congratulation Mr. Bailey!
